How I was guided to Islam.
During my teen years I was exposed to outgoing friends involved in fun and mischief. Being raised in UAE enrolled in a top British school I was spoilt. Despite the many advices from my mother, I was reluctant to leave my company of friends.
One day my mother suggested I visit King Faisal mosque around ‘Asr as it is when she would go to correct her tajweed, but I refused. She asked me again and this time she requested me to only make one visit and never go again if I didn’t like it. (she was soo sure that Allah would not let her down). I agreed to make just one visit only because she insisted.
I borrowed an abaya to visit the masjid at ‘Asr time and all I did was listen to the recitations and feel the atmosphere around me. It was so soothing and so calm. I never felt so peaceful. There was no lecture there, no one saying anything but just groups of ladies and girls reciting Quran is their own melodies.
As a surprise to me I decided to visit the next day too and the following day too. At the same time, I started getting dreams. I saw the sahabi Bilal (رضي الله عنه), I saw being given Quran to read. Then when I saw the Day of Judgement in my dream I got very scared. On waking up and from that same morning I started wearing hijab and praying five times a day.
For me my final push to submit to this beautiful sacred divine truth was the dream I was seeing specifically the dream where I witnessed the day of Judgement also the contents of the dream that I learnt later was actually narrated in hadith that was unknown to me at the time of seeing the dream.. So when later I found out that what I dreamt is what has already stated in various hadiths I got so emotional and firm in my practice that today 20 years later Im still connected and growing in deen alhumdullilah!
It is a big honor for me that I was guided by inspiration from Allah.
